Santec presented its research results on the spectral stability of supercontinuum radiation at the recent CLEO 2005 conference held in Baltimore, USA between 22 and 27 May 2005. The paper was presented in collaboration with Tokyo University.
Most mode locked fiber lasers operating over the 1200-1700nm wavelength range exhibit a spectral stability of 1dB or more. The results presented in Santec's paper show this can be improved to less than +/-0.05dB. The technology discussed in this paper has been employed in Santec's UWS-1000 Ultra-Wideband Light Source.
