History

1979

August

Established Kyodo Shoji Corporation. Main business is to import and develop fine ceramic materials for use in glass fiber, ceramic fiber and IC packages,etc.

1981

December

Kyodo Shoji Corporation changed its name to Samcom Electronics Corporation.
The head office then moved to Komaki City in Aichi, Japan.

1983

June

Samcom changed its name to Santec Corporation.
Business shifted from electronics to optical communication.

1984

June

Developed optical fiber mode field parameter test system, the FTS-2000.
FTS-2000 was Santec’s first product in the optical communication business.

1985

November

Started to export products.
To promote sales in North America, SANTEC U.S.A. CORPORATION was established in New Jersey, USA

1986

December

Developed a fully automatic optical fiber test system. (FTX-2000)

1987

January

Developed Narrow-spectrum LD light source(NSL-155) and Frequency-stabilized LD light source.(FSL-155)

1988

October

Developed Broadband tunable wavelength LD light source.(TSL-80)

1989

June

Completed construction of the Head Office in Kamisue, Komaki-City, Aichi.

1993

February

Developed Polarization-independent tunable-wavelength optical filter. Entered into full-scale business in the field of optical communication.

1997

February

Developed OWL-10. This product is one of the essential components for WDM.



April

Obtained ISO 9001 certification.

1998

August

Opened SANTEC Europe Ltd. in Oxford U.K.

1999

August

Completed construction of our Photonics Laboratory in Komaki, Aichi.

2000

March

Launched ADM-10 (ADD/DROP Module) and IPD-10.(Integrated Photo Detector)

October

Launched OVA-650.(Optical Variable Attenuator)

2001

February

Completed the construction of Tower D (Production facility)in Ohkusa, Komaki, Aichi.

July

Listed on the Osaka Stock Exchange JASDAQ Market.

November

Completed the construction of Tower E (Head office) in Ohkusa, Komaki, Aichi.
Opened Santec Shanghai in Shanghai, China.

2003

April

Started selling System Solution Business.

2004

July

Obtained ISO 14001 certification.

December

MOVA -1/8 (Micro-electro Mechanical Optical Variable Attenuator) was given Incentive Award of Chunichi-Industrial Award.

2005

April

Launched Next Generation OCT Light Source, HSL-2000, UWS-1000G.

November

Launched Swept Light Source TSL-510.

2006

April

Established Sales office at Shinagawa, Tokyo

2008

August

Started to supply HSL-200, the world first commercially available Swept Source OCT System.

2009

August

Introduced the LCOS (Liquid Crystal On Silicon) production equipment.

December

OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) system received the Chunichi-Shinbunsha Award of Chunichi-Industrial Award.

2010

July

Received subsidies from the NICT, National Institute of Information and Communications Technology and NEDO, Independent Administrative Institution New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization for our LCOS related research respectively.

2011

July

Concluded a research contract on the PREDICT project with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.

2013

September

Established Santec Photonics Laboratory (R&D facility) Silicon Valley in California, USA.

2014

June

Received subsidies from NEDO , Independent Administrative Institution New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization for our “Optical router switch” research for the next-generation optical communication network.

2015

March

Launched SLM, Spatial Light Modulator.

August

Obtained ISO 13485 certification.
Launched 6th generation Tunable Laser TSL-550.

Launched Medical equipment brand “MOVU”.

Obtained FDA approval for optical intraocular dimension measurement device SS-OCT biometer ARGOS.

May

Obtained sales certification of optical intraocular dimension measurement device SS-OCT biometer ARGOS in Japan.

Launched All-New 7th generation Tunable Laser TSL-770.

2018

March

Announced an Ultra-Compact Attenuator and Tap-Photodetector for 100G+ digital coherent transceivers.

June

HSL technology received the Inoue Harushige Award.

Launched High Speed Wavelength Scanning Tunable VCSEL HSL-1.

Made strategic alliance on Swept Source Optical Coherence Tomography biometer with Alcon 
Received FDA Approval for SS-OCT Bio Meter ARGOS®(Model Name:ARGOS ver1.5)

The transition from a company with the audit and supervisory board to a company with the audit and supervisory committee.

Selected by the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) as a contract researcher for the "Beyond 5G R&D Promotion Project".

Acquisition of JGR Optics Inc. turning it into a consolidated subsidiary.

Acquisition of OptoTest Corp. by SANTEC U.S.A. CORPORATION turning it into Santec Holdings Corporation’s sub-subsidiary.

2022

April

Transfers from the JASDAQ market to the Standard market in accordance with the reorganization of the Tokyo Stock Exchange's market segmentation.

Established Santec AOC Corporation, Santec LIS Corporation, Santec OIS Corporation, and Santec Japan Corporation for the transition to a holding company structure through a company split (simplified absorption-type company split).

Established Santec Global Corporation to strengthen group management in North America and as a regional control company.

2023

January

Changed the company name of JGR Optics Inc. to Santec Canada Corporation and OptoTest Corp. to Santec California Corporation.

April

Changed the company name to "Santec Holdings Corporation" and shifted to a holding company structure.
The AOC Company business was transferred to "Santec AOC Corporation," the LIS Company business to "Santec LIS Corporation," the OIS Company business to "Santec OIS Corporation," and the domestic sales and solutions businesses to "Santec Japan Corporation" through an absorption-type company split.
