Santec contributed a gift of an ARGOS® biometer to support USC Roski Eye Institute

Santec (Komaki, Japan, 6777.T) contributed a gift of an ARGOS® biometer to support USC Roski Eye Institute.

The device sold under the MOVU brand was developed by Changho Chong PhD, CTO and VP of Santec Corporation and his team in collaboration with Dr.John H. Shammas, M.D., Adjunct Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at Keck School of Medicine of USC, and obtained FDA 510K clearance in 2015. The ARGOS® is now widely used in ophthalmic practices for biometry that is an indispensable diagnostic procedure for Cataract surgery. The ARGOS® benefits surgical planning with better precision and high repeatability for accurate measurements.

"I am grateful for the generous gift from Santec. In addition enhancing the world-class care at USC Roski Eye Institute, the Argos will open new doors for discovery and innovation in Ophthalmology", said Professor J. Martin Heur, MD, PhD, Interim Chair of USC Department of Ophthalmology.

The ARGOS biometer is distributed exclusively through Alcon Laboratories with Image Guidance.
