Santec AOC（headquarters located in Komaki City, Japan）, a leading designer and manufacturer of fiber-optic components, has developed the world's smallest tap-photodetector, optical isolator integrated tap-photodetector, and variable optical attenuator integrated tunable filter for 400G+ digital coherent pluggable transceivers.
400G+ digital coherent transceivers are rapidly expanding in the data center interconnect (DCI) field and will be deployed for mobile 5G and IoT communications in the near future. The deployment of small form factor, compact integrations such as CFP2, QSFP-DD, and OSFP have been accelerated in the 400G+ digital coherent transceiver market as well.
The new tap-photodetector (code: NTP) is an optical passive component used in the transceiver to monitor the optical power. NTP is the 4th generation of santec’s tap-photodetector and the size of the NTP is reduced by approx. 50% in volume compared to the current 3rd generation tap-photodetector(UTP).
The optical isolator integrated tap-photodetector (code: INTP) is an optical passive component used in the transceiver to monitor the optical power while transmitting light in only one direction to prevent unwanted feedback.
The variable optical attenuator integrated optical tunable filter (MTF-VOA, code: HBD-103) is an optical passive component used in the transceiver to remove the noise after optical amplification and equalize the optical amplified power independently.
